St. Pete Hoochie Leaders – With or Without 3 oz. Inline Weight

The St. Pete Hoochie Leader is available in two options. Choose the standard leader without weight for a natural presentation, or select the 3 oz. inline weighted leader when you need to get your Hoochie deeper.

Option 1: St. Pete Hoochie Leader with 3 oz. Inline Weight

The St. Pete Hoochie Leader with 3 oz. inline weight helps anglers get their Hoochies deeper. As a result, you can maintain your trolling speed while reaching fish holding deeper in the water column.

This 3 oz. weighted Hoochie leader is designed specifically for our 3 oz. St. Pete Hoochies. When combined, they provide 6 oz. of total weight or more. The added weight helps your Hoochie reach greater depths while maintaining an effective trolling speed.

Our inline weighted leader uses 80 lb. test monofilament leader material. It measures approximately 3.5 feet long. Each leader includes a heavy-duty Rosco 2/0, 225 lb. test swivel and a 3 oz. lead egg sinker. A Rosco 2/0, 225 lb. test snap swivel completes the rig.

Leader configuration: Swivel → 3 oz. egg sinker → 3.5 ft. of 80 lb. mono → snap swivel

The ideal trolling speed remains approximately 5–7 knots. Therefore, the weighted leader is a great choice for fast-moving offshore fish. We recommend using 80 lb. braided main line with the 80 lb. mono leader. Keeping your drag relatively loose can also help absorb the shock from fast, hard strikes.

The extra strength of the 80 lb. mono leader is especially useful when bluefish show up. These aggressive fish can put significant pressure on your tackle and leader.

If you need to get your St. Pete Hoochie deeper, choose the 3 oz. weighted option. If you prefer a more natural presentation, the unweighted leader is the better choice.

Option 2: St. Pete Hoochie Leader – Without Weight

The St. Pete Hoochie Leader without weight is a great choice when you want your Hoochie to run naturally through the water. It allows you to control the depth with your trolling speed and line length.

This leader is made with 80 lb. test monofilament leader material. It measures approximately 3.5 feet long. Each leader includes a heavy-duty Rosco 2/0, 225 lb. test swivel. A Rosco 2/0, 225 lb. test snap swivel completes the rig.

As a result, you get a strong and dependable trolling leader. It is built to handle aggressive strikes and hard-fighting offshore fish.
