What to Bring on Your 3-Hour Monomoy Tour or River Cruise
Prepare for a fun and memorable ocean adventure on your 3-hour boat tour to Monomoy Island off the coast of Cape Cod! To ensure you have a comfortable and enjoyable experience, here’s a handy checklist of what to bring:
1. Appropriate Clothing
- Layered Clothing: The weather on the water can change quickly, so bring layers to stay comfortable. A light jacket or sweater is recommended, especially for cooler mornings or breezy afternoons.
- Waterproof Jacket or Poncho: It’s always a good idea to have a waterproof layer in case of unexpected spray from the ocean or a passing shower.
- Comfortable Shoes: Non-slip, water-friendly shoes are ideal for moving around the boat. Avoid sandals or open-toed shoes, as they may be unsafe on a moving vessel.
2. Sun Protection
- Sunscreen: Even on cloudy days, UV rays can reflect off the water. Make sure to apply sunscreen generously before boarding and reapply throughout the trip.
- Hat: A wide-brimmed hat or cap can provide shade and protect your face from the sun.
- Sunglasses: Polarized sunglasses will help reduce glare from the water and provide clearer views of wildlife.
3. Camera/Phone
- Capture the breathtaking views of Monomoy Island and its wildlife, including seals and migratory birds. Be sure to bring a waterproof case or bag to protect your camera or phone in case it gets splashed!
4. Binoculars
- If you’re keen on bird watching or want a closer look at the local wildlife, bring a pair of binoculars. Monomoy is known for its diverse birdlife, including ospreys, egrets, and terns.
5. Water and Snacks
- Stay hydrated throughout your trip by bringing a bottle of water. The boat does not provide some amenities, it’s always good to have your own water supply.
- Bring a light snack if you think you’ll get hungry. Consider a trail mix or energy bar for a quick boost without the mess.
6. Motion Sickness Remedies
- If you’re prone to seasickness, it’s a good idea to bring some motion sickness remedies like ginger candies, patches, or over-the-counter medications to ensure a smooth and comfortable ride.
7. Small Bag for Personal Items
- Bring a small, lightweight bag for your personal belongings. You can store it under your seat, keeping your essentials close but secure.
8. Positive Attitude and Adventure Spirit!
- A sense of adventure and a willingness to embrace the experience of being out on the open ocean will ensure you have a fantastic time!
