Welcome Aboard St. Pete!
So, you’re thinking about booking a trip? It’s time to learn about your captain. Let me introduce myself—I’m Captain Doug Klimavich, and if there’s one thing I’ve loved for as long as I can remember, it’s fishing.
I grew up in the small town of North Brookfield, Massachusetts, as a second-generation kid with a fishing rod practically in hand. Some of my best childhood memories are of fishing with my dad—exploring hidden fishing spots deep in the woods or down old dirt paths. We’d pull off onto a rugged trail, hike through the trees, and suddenly find ourselves at what looked like a sinkhole in the middle of nowhere. But those forgotten little oases held some of the biggest Smallmouth and Largemouth Bass you could imagine. The Pickerel were like monsters, and we’d pull delicious Brook Trout from lost streams and tributaries.
My dad was a fisherman through and through, with some of the best fishing stories ever told. More than that, he gave me a lifelong love of the outdoors and the thrill of the catch. There’s nothing quite like being on the water—surrounded by nature, taking in the scenery, and feeling that unmistakable tug on the line.
From Freshwater to Saltwater
Years later, after my dad had passed, I found myself on Cape Cod with my own family. In 1998, we bought our first home here, and that’s when I made the leap from freshwater to saltwater fishing. Ever since, I’ve spent countless hours learning the waters of Cape Cod alongside my three sons, making memories just like I did with my dad.
When I retired, I finally had the time to do something I’d thought about for years—getting my Captain’s license. People at the dock had often asked if I could take them out on charter trips, but without my Captain’s license, I had to turn them down. Now, I get to share my love for fishing, the ocean, and the pure excitement of a great catch with others.
I still remember being a kid, standing on the jetty, watching charter boats head out, thinking, How amazing would that be? Now, I get to be the one taking people out, watching their faces light up when they land their first Striped Bass. That moment—the thrill, the excitement—it never gets old.
So, if you’re ready for an unforgettable day on the water, come join me. Let’s make some memories, reel in some great fish, and share in the adventure.
Hope to see you aboard!
Captain Doug Klimavich
