FAQs – Frequently Asked Questions
Welcome to our FAQs page where we answer all your questions about our fishing trips. Find out about our boat capacity, mate availability, fish handling, payment methods, and more. We also provide information on season start and end dates, tipping, deposits, and cancellations. If you have other questions that we haven’t covered in our FAQs, please feel free to contact us. Read on for all the details.
- How many people can come on the trip? We limit the number of people fishing to 4.
- Is the price the same if some people don’t fish? Yes, you’re hiring the boat for the time on the water so it doesn’t matter if one person or all of those on the trip fish.
- Does the boat come with a Mate? Most of the time, yes. It can depend on the type of trip and the number of customers coming out. Some trips don’t require one.
- Who keeps the fish? You do. That is if you want to. You’re allowed to keep your legal limit of any legal-sized fish that you catch.
- Do you clean the fish? Yes, we will clean and prepare your fish for you at the end of the trip.
- Is the boat Kid Friendly? Yes, but with offshore trips like Nantucket Shoals or other all-day trips please use discretion.
- Is the boat handicapped accessible? There is a ramp down the dock but not to get into or out of the boat.
- Do you have insurance? Yes, we are fully licensed and insured.
- When does the season start? The state sets the season opening day for Black Sea Bass and Fluke. It’s usually around the third week in May. We do run some Squid fishing trips in early May. You’re welcome to fish earlier if you don’t mind catch-and-release since we couldn’t legally keep our catch.
- When does the season end? We will make our last trip out sometime around late October or early November. It depends on the current fishing conditions and weather.
- Should we tip the mate? Traditionally, yes. The mate’s tip should be somewhere around 15-20% of the trip. The mate works really hard. You see they will be instrumental in helping you and in making sure that you have a great time on the water.
- What payment methods do you accept? We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Cash. Sorry, but no personal checks. Payment is expected in full at the end of your trip. If you prefer, you can also pay in full before your trip. Just contact us and we can assist you with that.
- Is there a deposit? Yes. Each trip has a predetermined deposit amount which can range from $100 – $300.
- Is the deposit refundable if I have to cancel? Yes, as long as you cancel at least 72 hours in advance. We reserve the right to keep your deposit if you cancel your trip after the 3-day window has expired.
- What if the captain cancels the trip? Do I get my deposit back? Yes. We will do our best to find another day and time that will suit your needs but if that isn’t possible, you’ll receive a full refund.
- Why would the captain cancel a trip? The captain may cancel your trip if he determines that the weather or sea conditions are too rough for you to safely enjoy your trip. Read More.
- Once again, if you have other questions that we haven’t covered in our FAQs, please feel free to contact us.
